Day by day the cases of cyber-attacks are increasing in UK. To defend these attacks UK has brought about strategic goals till 2025. Cyber security is depleting in today’s society. The hackers are using the minute vulnerabilities present in these systems to enter into the networks of the institution. Due to these reasons, the UK government has decided to bring about new defence priorities with the aim of protecting the country.

The defence strategy was disclosed by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson. This policy was under discussion for a year. The Prime Minister said that this strategy will be the basic factor upon which all the other decisions will be made. The strategy was created for the foreign policy, defence and security.

The Prime Minister along with the parliament members took bold decisions to invest more defence techniques. The investment amount was estimated to nearly 24 billion Euros.

From this amount, 6.6 billion Euros will be allotted to the Research and Development sector that brings about new warfare technologies including drones, advanced high speed missiles and directed energy weapons. The UK government is investing more on nuclear weapons to strengthen their country among other countries.

Equally, cyber security is given Importance. As this is the age of cyber wars. The government has realized the importance of implementing a strong cyber security to protect the Nation’s secret information. The new security strategy would detect, disrupt and deter adversaries.

Technology has gone so far that the threat actors have started to attack in cyberspace and organized crimes through online networks are gaining popularity these days. The agents of cyber hacks are implementing new techniques to take advantage of the digital weakness. This can increase the insecurities in the country and hence lead to collateral damage.

The government has decided to work out this strategy now due to the repeated cyber-attacks coming from foreign states including China and Russian. The Chief of the UK defence intelligence raised his concern about the coming attacks in the future which made the government to invest more on cyber security.

Along with creating a stronger security network, the officials has decided to strengthen the critical infrastructure and improve the technologies that are important to cyber power such as microprocessor, quantum technologies and latest forms of data transmission.

The new amendment will continuously focus on disrupting the activities of adversaries by imposing fines or blocking them from harming the interest of UK, a new defence approach to cyber security.
